The first reason is that the cats don’t bark. Even the loudest meow from the cat is much better than the quietest bark of a dog, which is very much sufficient to keep one awake all night long. Another big reason is that cats can clean themselves and on the other hand the dogs need to have the owner to give them a bath, which is at times a pain to do and more time consuming. Moreover, if cats get lost they are amazingly good at finding their way home while the dogs will not return when lost. Dogs are more demanding than cats.
Their diets vary with the whims of humans, however, and can be supplemented by the cat's own hunting successes. Feral cats are the "wild" offspring of domestic cats and are primarily the result of pet owners' abandonment or failure to spay and neuter their animals, allowing them to breed uncontrolled. Feral cat "colonies" can be found behind shopping areas or businesses, in alleys, parks, abandoned buildings, and rural areas. They are elusive and do not trust humans. Many people assume
Aloofness, however, is not something that I think is common in cats, some breeds are more typically aloof but, as a whole, I find cats to be very personable. Most cats like to cuddle close to their human companions. Cats become easily attached to their humans and become very loyal to them, this adds to their aloof character when it comes to strangers. Cats, despite being loyal to their owner, are very independent by nature. This adds to their purported aloofness.
Irelandused to be so peaceful. That was before the English took over now timesare harder. I am a black irish dog I like to help the cats by catching small animals, like rabbits or rats. I get less and less food every day because the cats are having trouble paying the rent so they sell food. I hope every things going to be okay.
Another way the cat shows dominance over the owner is through the use of ‘greed’ and ‘fear’ in line 19, this contrasts showing a dominant and submissive side, the cat show’s a submissive side to maintain it’s relationship with the owner but initially still knows he is the more dominant one. The language choice used by the poet portrays the cat’s dominance over its owner Secondly the poet also used technical devices in order to convey dominance. The poet uses a simile ‘’wait like a trap’’ to portray the cats dominance as he is commanding the owner and teaching him new skills which also presents the cat to be smarter than it’s possessor. In addition the author also uses a metaphor in line 14 ‘’My emotion are as pure as salt and as hard’’ salt is known as a healer for wounds but can also be very painful, this again is contrasting between that cat’s dominant and submissive side. In addition the poet also uses pronouns ‘I’ to show that the cat is always putting himself before the owner, which portrays its dominance and control over the owner.
This type of infantile behaviour is common between cats and their owners. This is because the owners provide the cats with food and comfort in a maternal way Buring feaces - The behaviour of cats burying their own faeces is often positively accepted by owners, as it keeps their litter trays tidy, and it is negatively complained about by gardeners, as they can unknowingly uncover it with their hands. It is thought that cats do this for hygienic reasons, although in truth, it is actually to dampen down their odour. It is actually only less confident, fearful cats who will do this. Dominant, un-neutered male cats will do the opposite, by placing their faeces on a little mound, so the odour can have maximum effect.
This is due to it really being a conflict, and conflict is one of the major themes since almost every event or action in this book revolves around it. After Jack fails at his first attempt to kill the pig, he quotes “next time…” This is foreshadowing future slaying, pig hunts and his savage killing. The consistent pig runs and tribal dance shows the groups change into savagery and the loss of civilization on the island. This impacts the novel because in any situation where one is stranded and needs help and to be rescued, it is most important the people stranded remain civilized and work to achieve the group’s goal, which is obviously rescue. With the ruin of civilization all order on the island goes completely down the drain and no longer exists and it now becomes a struggle to survive and later pursue the intent of being rescued.
Autumn Beaulieu 11/12/14 Eric Pelkey ENG 111 A Better Pet Would you rather have a cat or dog? If I were you, I would prefer cats because cats are better than dogs. Training a dog which takes time is hard work on the other hand put a litter box in front of a cat and boom there she goes and training the cat is done. Either way from my point of view, I would want a cat. I have had both a cat and dog in the past.
Another big part of a dogs; life is their territory. They need an essential place to not only lay their loads but to burn off some energy. Big yards do wonders for dogs’. Most like dogs, cats also need a place to go when duty calls, most inside cats use a litter box with grainy, gravel-like pellets in the bottom. It is a small space compared to a yard where a dog can do his business.
Dog shows have and will always be a form of entertainment for us as humans; they are fun to watch and very entertaining. I agree when you first get a puppy it doesn’t know any better not to poop or pee on your nice carpets. Training a dog when it’s young is not hard though. There are many methods of training and many books to help you along. If you have a cat, on the other hand, you can’t train it not to jump on the counters or scratch on the furniture.
