Cultural Event Report Chernell Green Dr. Donna Reeves HUM 111—World Cultures I Strayer University Monday, June 11, 2012 Attending a Performance Clearly identify the event location, date attended, the attendees, and your initial reaction upon arriving at the event. The event location was at Dorchester Road Regional Library, 6325 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, South Carolina, 29418. On Thursday, May 10, 2012, I attended an hour Rhythm and Blues (R&B) jazz concert. The concert was schedule from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm and it started on time. Mr. Gerald was the Librarian that introduced Terrence Young and his band. Terrence Young was the lead bass guitar player. He has previously shared the stage with such artists as Envogue, Morris Day and the Time, Roberta Flack, Al Jarreau, George Duke, and Clarence Carter. He has also played guitar for a number of R&B singers, most notably R&B Queen Angie Stone and on the Earth, Wind, and Fire Tribute album. The second bass guitar player was bass guitar player was Joe Jackson; Mike Stone was on the keyboard, and Michael Vincent on the drums. My initial reaction upon arriving at the event was there won’t be any seats available if I didn’t arrive early. I arrived early and there were not that many vehicles in the parking lot. As it got closer to the time, people were arriving. When I walked through the doors, the usher greeted me with a smile then asked me could he help me. I told him I was there for a jazz concert. The usher escorted me to the area where the concert was held. There were approximately 50 people there with a variety of age group. They had free snacks prepared for us. One could get as many snacks as he or she wanted. I was like Wow! This do not happens when I go to concerts and paid $50 or more.
