PART I: INTRODUCTION As the world advances both technologically and in human-relations aspect, the borders drawn between countries are thinner and globalization has taken its impact not only in political aspects but also primarily in business dealings all around the world. There is hardly any business that does not deal with any overseas contacts or counterparts for the cause of cost-savings, efficiency or the employment of expertise for expansions. Such has been practiced way before the times of the internet which has literally taken away the borders between countries. These borders however, are exponentially reduced as time goes by and we are faced with more challenges to deal with the increasing competition that has been brought about by globalization. One of such challenges is the existence of different cultures and it is as such that cross-cultural management is such an important aspect of business dealings. The Eastern and Western cultures are primarily differentiated by the well-open concepts of ideas and suggestions in the Western world while the Eastern ways are still of somewhat conservative natures and such poses challenges when negotiations and work take place between various cultures. A study is done on China particularly, from its most basic facts and cultural practices to its more complex psychological and sociological concepts of Face, where ancient teachings of Confucianism and Taoism has very much influenced its current state of culture. It is without a doubt that with Western influences, China has evolved and transformed dramatically over the decades at an exponential speed but still, challenges are faced when dealing with businesses in the country. This report will describe and discuss such factors and the importance of cross-cultural management when involving oneself in business with the Chinese people. PART II: THE CHINESE CULTURE Values
