Animals become the only innocent victims of the war, yet are still destroyed and tortured by humans. Each time Robert witnesses their obliteration, he is exposed to the cruelty and brutality of others. His innocence and humanity are deteriorated throughout the novel, until he evolves into an animalistic savage himself. In this part of the story, the blood represents death and According to Georgie, death is everywhere around him and he is bothered by this fact and that’s why is the one striving and working hard to clean it all up whereas the floor seemed fine to the narrator. Another instance can be recognized in the rabbit part of the story where Georgie runs over a pregnant rabbit and kills her. In this part of the story, the author definitely made his “life giving character” kill a pregnant rabbit, but in doing so, he saved eight little miniature rabbits temporarily at least. Later on, the narrator killed them carelessly. This is another instance of the story that Georgie gave life to eight bunnies whereas the narrator took away those lives.
When Odysseus and his men got stuck in the Cyclops cave everyone else freaked out. Odysseus calmed everyone down and devised a plan to shove a giant stick into the Cyclops one good eye. After this worked Odysseus and his men hide under the sheep so when the Cyclops felt the sheep he felt fur and let them outside. A way Ulysses showed his leadership was when he saw his African American friend getting ready to be hanged by the KKK. Ulysses sprang into action and made the KKK regret ever taking his friend by knocking the burning cross over.
