Critical Thinking Habits Most Useful in Interpreting In “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Gilman Critical thinking is one important thing that people should consider using it in daily life. Critical thinking is a process of identification and evaluation of evidence when making a decision and it will clarify a task and finally guide to the best outcome. Some people might say “I know how to think”, “I have been thinking all of my life”, however, it is not easy to think critically. People have to learn, practice, and improve the habits of critical thinking in order to achieve it. Here there are some critical thinking habits most useful in interpreting in “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Gilman which are ask questions, define terms and concepts, and analyze assumptions and biases.
I will speak to more experienced people regarding this, and take proper advise and guidance. I will agree and develop a learning plan to improve own work performance, that meets own needs, and follow a learning plan for improvement to my own work. These “definitions allow readers to see critical thinking as an uncomplicated course of action or a complex approach to arriving at an educated decision by implementing a strategy for questioning and reasoning that will allow arrival at a final well-informed outcome.” (Moore, 2010) A few of those definitions are: “(as cited in Fowler, 2002) Halpern defines critical thinking as ‘thinking that is purposeful, reasoned, and goal-directed- the kind of thinking involved in solving problems, formulating inferences, calculating likelihoods, and making decisions when the thinker is using skills that are thoughtful and effective for the particular context and type of thinking task’ (Fowler 2002)” (Moore 2010). “Mariona (as cited in Fowler, 2002) includes ‘critical thinking is, therefore to achieve understanding, evaluate view points, and solve problems.’”(Moore 2010). The ability to have a mode of thinking that enables us to communicate effectively and form good problem solving abilities. Good thinking skills give one the ability to analyze and assess a problem or situation so as to find the right corrective measures to solve the issue at hand. Critical Thinking is self directed and self disciplined. Critical thinkers are always working to improve the skills of reasoning and intellectual abilities which enable them to try and improve the world around them.
Critical thinking allows us the chance to place importance and meaning on our past and current situations; while at the same time, shaping, molding, and directing the outcomes of our future by influencing our choices and decisions that we will make.
