Frank Shorey Shorey1 English Composition 101 ENC-101 March 2012 Creating Fiscal Year 2013 Schedule Creating a class schedule for the next year is a time consuming challenge that requires some research. Learning from my supervisor, I learned that there are some courses that stay constant and happen every week while some courses are only three times a year. Other important parts of the schedule are planning and a thorough review. My goal in this paper is to describe the process of creating our class schedule for the next fiscal year. The first part of the task is to schedule local classes that occur every week in Yokosuka, Japan. In addition to our local courses we also offer courses at nine different locations in the Asian area of the pacific rim. The courses that we offer are for personal and professional development. The types of courses offered are different. Some courses focus on facilitation skills to deliver training to a command, and other courses focus on basic life skills for junior sailors. The planning portion of scheduling classes for the upcoming year is the most time consuming process in the schedule. Before we begin scheduling classes we verify the dates and ensure that there wouldn't be a class scheduled on a holiday. After that, we plug in classes that are covered every week in the local area. Additionally, we have to schedule classes at the different Navy bases in southeast Asia. Classes are added based on what the location needs. When we schedule classes in those remote areas we will typically have two weeks worth of classes conducted.
