Heroin was introduced as a cough medicine and was also used to help cure Morphine addiction (“Prescription Painkiller History”). Heroin actually is morphine. Once Heroin reaches the liver it turns into morphine but doctors didn’t realize it. Many members of Congress kept trying to engineer a way to ban drugs because technically the government cannot ban drugs completely. The first step to banning drugs was the Pure Food and Drug Act.

Abuse of the drug gained popularity when users discovered that it has the same effects as PCP. Rolling in Ecstasy: MDMA Use in the United States Many people may find it difficult to believe that a drug claimed to be able to kill within one usage actually is beneficial and safe for treating a wide variety of medical diseases. This is especially the case for the infamous and reportedly deadly “club drug,” MDMA or Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. MDMA was first synthesized by Merck Pharmaceuticals in 1912 as a potential headache medication, but after finding no connection they deemed further studies unnecessary. This caused the drug to essentially vanish until 1977, when a chemist by the name of Charles Shulgin took a second look at MDMA and discovered that Merck may have been very wrong. Dr. Shulgin found the drug to be therapeutic and christened it “window” as he felt it
Alcohol is one of the most commonly abused depressant drugs that are available on the market. Although most people do not consider it a drug, alcohol has many qualities of the drug, being both addictive and giving the effect of relaxation. There are many types of alcohol, including ethyl, methyl, isopropyl, gelled, and denatured alcohol. Methyl alcohol, also known as methanol or wood alcohol, is used for fuel in alcohol burners. Environmentalists also have developed ways to use methanol and small amounts of gasoline in automobiles in order to reduce fossil fuel use and emissions.
Is methadone effective? Methadone is an opioid pain reliever – similar to the pain killer morphine. Taken orally once a day, as well as relieving pain methadone also suppresses narcotic drug withdrawal such as crack-cocaine and heroin for between 24 and 36 hours. Methadone reduces the cravings associated with heroin use and consequently blocks the high you receive from heroin, but it does not provide the euphoric rush. Ultimately, the patient remains physically dependent on the opioid methadone, but is freed from the uncontrolled, compulsive, and disruptive behaviour seen in heroin addicts.
Instead of a spiritual experience, the hope is to stop, prevent or relieve cluster headaches. LSD was originally created to treat migraine headaches and many people report that LSD and psilocybin have helped them with their cluster headaches. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an extremely difficult diagnosis to treat. Very few people diagnosed with OCD find complete relief from intrusive thoughts and compulsive actions. The nine patients given psilocybin were unresponsive to medication and therapy.
Dr Robert J. DeLorenzo along with other researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University discovered that natural cannabis “plays a critical role in controlling spontaneous seizures in epilepsy.” That’s only two studies that I’m naming, there happens to be a wealth out there showing that cannabis is linked to beneficial occurrences to those in need. More examples include: Depression, anxiety, Hepatitis C, Cancer, HIV, and even Morning Sickness. So, even after all of the evidence stating that cannabis even helps people in need, it’s still outlawed…
Health care is hard for people to get the proper coverage due to high prices, pre-existing conditions, or debt problems. Insurance companies often have loop holes people do not see, causing problems when a medical condition occurs. Children are not receiving the proper medical care due to their families not having the proper coverage. Many Americans are continuing to get sicknesses and go untreated, causing more Americans to suffer or die quickly. Nationalizing health care
Dr. Herbert Kleber, Psychiartist, Ny State Psychiatric Institute, says that marijuana in an inhibitor of good feelings to the psychiatric mind. It creates a tingly and cloudy sensation. Kleber ends with most simple of remarks, “people smoke weed because it feels good.”(Taboo Television show, 05/03/2011) Also future side effects can be real sever sometimes, such as schizophrenia. Alcohol also alters the consumer, but in far different ways than marijuana. Alcohol when consumed is metabolized by the liver, when fully consumed and digested the users feels disorientated.
