Ways to Reduce costs for an organization Working for a small company that is currently expanding enables me to have a clear understanding of ways to reduce cost for an organization. I am involved in researching ways to reduce costs and at the same time maximize profit. I have learned that for a business to be profitable, it must be able to create revenue and minimize costs. Cutting cost should be carefully considered when venturing into gaining new business and generating additional revenue. Employees should be utilized to the best of their competencies and therefore reducing unnecessary costs and lower time-cost ratio of productivity. All employees incur cost whenever they are on the clock; so they need to be in productive roles in order minimize cost. Recognize engaged and disengaged workers; develop a plan to improve the level of production; the problem might be that they were placed in the wrong role. If productivity cannot be improved; they should be terminate and their role should be given to engage employees. Additional cost is saved by reducing nonproductive labor hours, and other benefits. Reduce the marketing budget by breaking down the way of communicating with potential clients. Discontinue any program that is not generating a sizable revenue production and new cash flow. Startup companies should not make too many purchases or try to gain market share quickly in an effort to compete with the big players. Getting new business, hiring help, and purchase necessary should be considered first. It is not a good idea to employ someone if it creates a loss or break-even with the new revenue streams; only hire people when the offset differential is a positive cash flow. This approach should be considered when purchasing new equipment or new supplies. Other factors such as the costs for office supplies, energy, and phone costs should be carefully
