Beauty school costs anywhere up to $6,500.00 in a rural area, and $10,000.00 for urban areas like Boston and New York, around our area the cost is about $4,000.00. Financial aid, grants, scholarships, loans, and payment plans are available. There are also schedule plans you can do, usually you would go to training 3-4 days a week for 7 hours per day or more depending on what you want to do. Cosmetology makes base salary, an average of $11.21.00 an hour, and tips depending on customer satisfactory. Cosmetologists make about $23,330 per year in 2009. The salary and tips depend on the area you are working, big urban places like New York and Boston will make you the most money. The amount of money you make also depends on your job title. Some cosmetologists just do nails, and some just do hair. Cosmetology has supplied about 900,000 jobs in the United States in 2009, and has risen since then.
