Good afternoon Mr Daniel and class, I will be talking about how Confucius made a impact on our world we live in today. First off Confucius was an ancient Chinese teacher, politician, and founder of Confucianism. Confucius lived from 28th September in the state of Lu 551 until his death in 479 BC. Confucius was one of Chinas most influential philosophers and his ideas, called Confucianism was a moral code for good living and how a good government should operate. Confucianism had almost every aspect of life covered except after death. One of his most famous quotes are “do not do to others what you do not want to be done to you" His educational background is unclear but sources say that he studied with Lao Dan (Lao Zi) and music from Chang Hong and Chang Xiang. His education and learning were extremely important to Confucius to such extent that he influenced his disciples to make analects: “He who learns but does not think is lost. He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.” After Confucius finished studying. Confucius gathered a small group of disciples which became as numerous a few thousand and travelled in search of teaching others and writing books of Confucius teachings. His teachings, as did his own learning, emphasized morality, government, speech and language and the arts. He focused on the Six Arts: archery, calligraphy, chariot, computation, music and ritual. Of the various subjects though, it was morality that was considered of utmost importance above all else. Through a proper understanding and practice of morality all else could be derived, harmonized and rectified. This is revealed in a famous lesson in which a student asks if there is one word that could guide a person through life, the master’s answer is “reciprocity” (shu), and the ‘answer’ is a suggestion, followed by the exemplifying phrase, “never impose on others what you would not
