Computers in education The role of computers nowadays is increasing. Computers are becoming a major part in people’s lives. Some think that machines are enemies of education and some see computers as a tool that can be used to complete work similar to the way that textbooks, laboratory equipment or other educational technologies can be used to improve education. Others believe that computers are helping in the progress of education and are a must. Discussing the importance of computers in the educational fields is an important issue since when we say technology, we mean computers. People depend on that machine in order to solve problems, store data and eliminate the large areas that thick files used to take in the past. In addition we find a lot of majors that deal with computers like computer science and computer engineering. I’m interested in this issue because the importance of computers is increasing, that’s why we can’t stop or else we will miss the progress. To begin, let us introduce the history of education and computers how it began and what was the stages that it went through. According to the writer, the teachers were by default the learned men of ancient times. Priests and prophets taught children of the wealthy and noble, the skills to take up their roles as leaders and businessmen. The priest’s position was elevated above many classes of society, and they were treated accordingly for their knowledge and wisdom. One of the most learned and educated men of all time, Confucius (516 B.C), became the first private teacher in history and taught any student who wanted to learn. The first public school was established in 1635 where it adopted the teacher / manager style with a single classroom.
