COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION ENGL-101 Liberty University September 9, 2013 The debate of rather a computer is an empowering tool to those who embark upon it still exist today. A computer in the hands of a hard-working student is an important and empowering tool that, if utilized to the fullest potential, can be capable of encouraging that student to become a success in his or her studies. In today’s society, technology has become an integral part of education. It allows students and teachers access to information, show students real world, help with research projects, and prepares for jobs. I believe that with the many technological advances that have been made throughout history computers have made life easier.
Internet helped William to enjoy studying and to focus. The program Quizlet stimulated all four objectives in learning language writing, reading, speaking and listening, which helped him transfer the material from his short term memory to his long term memory faster. As the data shows, his grades have improved. I also see the possibility of using assistive technology with students who don’t have disabilities to improve their performance. If I can gather more data and experiences, I can present results to the school that can impact school improvement, faculty development and student learning.

Future of Policing CJS/210 Samantha Holladay 11/25/2012 Kimberly Gonzales The advancement in technology is one of the major contributors in the future of policing. Our police force has came along way with the advancements of the computer, cell phones, internet and even the television. There are also new areas of policing that aid in helping the police force serve and protect the citizens more efficiently such as database and information technology, computer-aided dispatch and mobile computing. The use of database and information technology is being used today in order to help police officers retrieve and store amounts of information more quickly. (Grant and Terry, pp.501, 2008)
This new grip technology should be popular in sports that need a good grip to increase athletic ability. To see a change in athletic ability in these areas with 3M’s technology the company should run some testing. I would test the difference their performance when using the gloves against not using the gloves in all sports. While doing this testing I would use surveys and focus groups to see if they are interested in these products. All this would be important before actually entering the market.
This article is a direct response to Nick Carr’s argument. Maria Bustillos points out the flaws in his argument while supporting the fact that the Internet is indeed making us smarter and has been for years now. She believes that our brains are adapting to this new technology making it easier to obtain new knowledge. She states that the Internet is actually training our brains and making them stronger. By this she means allowing us to learn more in a shorter time frame.
1. Discuss the underlying reasons for the rapid growth of crime laboratories in the United States since the late 1960s. One major reason for the rapid growth of crime laboratories is due to internet technology. The United States is able to get information from other cities, counties, states, and countries with the push of a button. People who have committed crimes and who have been caught have had their personal information entered into a computer system.
Another important form of technology that has made a very big impact on policing is the computer-aided dispatch. This is very important in policing because is allowed police officers to have a faster response time and the departments are able to communicate with the officers that are out doing field work. The safety of the officers is enhanced by the use of this system because the department can monitor the officer’s status. Technology has changed policing and will continue to do so in the future. Weapons that are used in policing will also change in the future.
