This paper will show from education and training how computer technology can make an individual powerful. Our daily existence involves using some sort of technology and/ or computer. Education is the best way to begin your powerful and personal journey into the world of computers technology. First we must be educated about computers. With the right equipment and training, we will learn all we need to know about the components and how to operate a computer.
Turkle indicates that elementary school students’ use of computers and Internet change their way of thinking. At that point she began to study not only what computers do for us, but also what they do to us (348). Furthermore, Turkle affirms that machines are now being designed to serve as a companion and that technology does not determine changes, but it encourages us to take certain directions. Based on her experience, Turkle explains the relationship between privacy and technology. The use of technology is affecting students especially in high school and college.
The best form of technology with in the class would be computers. Students with different learning styles can easily maneuver the computers from face book, my space, etc. Computers have made a fundamental impact in most industries, providing a competitive advantage that has come to be
Psychologically, understandings of cognitive development are mostly based on Piaget and Vygotky’s theories. The Use of computer is beneficial to a child’s cognitive development in both Piaget and Vygotsky’s’ sense. Piaget argues that children are innately, gifted learners, they are active constructers of their own knowledge through interaction with the environment. Access to computer allows children the opportunity to explore, to engage actively with the environment, thus enables them to have control over their own learning (Mccarrick & Li, 2007, 82-3). One study result showed that children age 3-5 who have access to computer at home scored significantly better in readiness skill test than those don’t have computer at home.
Running Head: TECHNOLOGY ETHICS IN THE CLASSROOM Technology Ethics in the Classroom Rodney Mooney Grand Canyon University: EDU 225 Educational Technology The advancements of technology in the classroom call for both teachers and students to have a good understanding of the positives and negatives that come with technology in classrooms. Through technology, students can learn how to utilize computers and the internet in a productive and proper fashion. With nearly every home and classroom being equipped with computers, it is crucial that both parents and teachers have an understanding for technology and take the time to monitor children when they use this technology. Computer and Internet technology is very helpful and can be very educational if used properly, but they can also become a negative impact on individuals that misuse these helpful tools. Technology is a new tool in education that consistently changes and offers new opportunities for teacher and learning (Akcay 2008).
Running head: Connections with Brain Based Learning 1 Connections with Brain Based Learning Sumera Shakir Western Governors University Connections with Brain Based Learning2 Connections with Brain Based Learning As per the given, psychologists have known that humans are highly influenced and learn best from knowledge that already exists in our minds. This knowledge consists of our past experiences, learning, and interests. With such diversity in the classroom, educators look to find what is the best way to help our students learn. They turn to modern brain research which explains how the brain works and then link the findings to current teaching practices. A basic rule for brain based research is that maximum learning is achieved when current concepts are linked to prior knowledge (Hardiman, 2001).
Assignment #3a – Keyword – Deb Noren Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) is a pedagogical approach wherein learning takes place via social interaction using a computer or through the internet. This kind of learning is characterized by the sharing and construction of knowledge among participants using technology as their primary means of communication or as a common resource. (Wikipedia) I believe CSCL empowers students to take charge of their learning. They transition from ‘What can the teacher do for me?’ to ‘What can I do for myself?’. When working with others, the strength in numbers instills confidence, heightens cognitive ability and results in a higher level of learning.
Further, video game playing occurs in rich socio-cultural contexts, bringing friends and family together, serving as an outlet for adolescents, and providing the “raw material” for youth culture. Finally, video game research reveals many patterns in how humans interact with technology that become increasingly important to instructional technologists as they become designers of digital environments. Through studying video games, instructional technologists can better understand the impact of technology on individuals and communities, how to support digital environments by situating them in rich social contexts. This journal article will be helping in proving that video games can be educational even though some people fear that they have negative effects upon people. Also that video games can bring families together and friends.
Language Rich Environment Caitlin Hope Graham ECE 315: Language Development in Young Children Professor Laura Carlee August 25, 2014 Language Rich Environment Children learn language better when they can use their environment to promote their learning. “The key to creating and implementing language-rich classroom environment is infusing the classroom with rich adult-child interactions.” (Justice, 2004). In designing my classroom, I chose three ways to enrich their environment to help promote their language learning. By placing the children’s desks so that they can not only focus on me but also at what is either being taught in the front or the back of the classroom. Segregating an area of the classroom for constructive play with lots of access to books and paper enables the children to express themselves creatively, but allows them to give action to their creativity.
Sadia Haleem SDV 100 “Note Taking and Test Anxiety” This video has great tips on note take and test anxiety. And it made me realize how important note taking can be and how useful it can be to every student. Note taking is the most important essential method to succeed in school, whether its middle school, high school or college. Note taking helps you learn the information better than before, improves your writing skills, helps you study later, helps you study later, helps you study while you write and helps you summarize. There are many different methods in note taking; shorthand, outlining, the Cornell System are some of them.
