COMPATIBLITY OF RELIGION AND SCIENCE BY TALHA ZAFAR The question “if religion and science are compatible” is affirmative. Science and religion are definitely compatible and work in unisons, even though religion teaches us two things. How to conduct ourselves in society and the belief in the unknown, science is a major contributor. Conduct of life is a code governing the all conduct of human affairs; the way a person lives in a society and any kind of science he uses along the way, directly or indirectly. Conduct of life can not function without some kind of scientific application. Faith on the other hand, requires belief only. It does not need any evidence or fact to prove a concept. Faith is illogical from a scientific point of view. How ever faith and conduct of life go hand-in-hand. All religion tells us how to conduct our selves in our daily life, in which we use or apply some kind of science. For example, prayer at a mosque, church, temple or synagogue is a ritual of so called communication between human and God; and socialization with people while there. Communication with God give a physiological satisfaction while socialization with people harmonises the social life of the community. Thus we act according to the rule of sociology and physiology, which are types of science. We also conduct ourselves in a society by a certain code, not taught to us by a religion. For example, a doctor studies biology, chemistry and physic, which makes up medical science. If I was sick then I would have to see a doctor. If I chose not to see a doctor then I would remain sick and stay at home, which would disrupt my conduct of life. So I depend on the doctor, who in-turn depends upon the medical science. The collective ways to conduct ourselves, be that religious conduct or non-religious conduct, falls under the same category, which is conduct of
