Three different types of Empirical research were compared using the comparison matrix. The articles were found in the Grand Canyon University library. Pandey and Wright written the first article Transforming Leadership on the Public Sector: Does Structure Matter? The Effect of Transactional and Transformational Leadership Styles on the Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction of Customer Contact Personnel written by Emery and Barker was the second article. The third article used in the comparison matrix is The Impact of Parental Deployment on Child Social and Emotional Functioning: Perspectives of School Staff by Chandra , Martin, Hawkins & Richardson.
The first article written by Wright and Pandey focuses on leadership that is considered to be transformational. Based on their hierarchical structure, the high performance of public organizations that are stereotyped to be bureaucratic is due to the support of higher levels of transformational leadership (Pandey & Wright, 2010). The second article written by Emery and Barker also deals with transformational leadership but in addition examines the transactional effects of leadership styles with managers. This article focused on personnel that had direct contact with customers and how employee’s performance relating to organizational commitment and job satisfaction depended on the leadership style of their manager with regards to transformational or transactional (Barker & Emery, 2007). The third article did not deal with leadership styles but examined the effects on children functioning in school settings relating to emotional and social aspects due to having military parents that deployed (Chandra , Martin, Hawkins, & Richardson, 2009).
