Comparing Apples and Oranges Nutrition can be described as the science that deals with food and nourishment, especially in humans. The question remains: what types of nutritional food can people take in? Which food will give us the best or most beneficial type of nutrition? The answer is fruit. It is believed by most that taking in the average daily dose of fruit can assist the human body with fighting off harmful bacteria by strengthening immunity systems, resulting in a longer life span. Fruit can also give people the proper energy source to live their lives day to day and most people eat it because it tastes great. Two of the most common fruits eaten in today’s society are apples and oranges. So which is the better fruit: apples or oranges? This paper will discuss the origins of oranges, its advantages over apples and how they are made, plus argue health risks and benefits of oranges. The great state of Florida has great pride in its orange farms, where they produce over 71% of the nations oranges, which is equivalent to 250 million boxes of oranges. Orange farms consist of thousands of acres of orange trees that are preserved and cared for daily for proper growth and its produce. It is safe to say that oranges are among the most popular fruit in America today. Oranges are packed with vitamin C which can do lots for the human body’s immune system, the same system that fights off diseases and harmful bacteria that lead to sickness and even death. The popular fruit orange, also helps with brain function and health. (Mens Health Magazine, pg 30) Healthy brain function dictates how the human mind perceives information, creates emotion and does various basic tasks such as sensing pain and non-pain feelings.
