Undoubtedly, these rash acts to receive camaraderie illustrate the foolhardiness of the protagonists. They both abhor solitude but are unsure how to find viable friendship.
Lady Macbeth was stronger in handling the situation, expressing almost no emotions over what her husband did. As Macbeth was expressing the faults of his responsibilities, Lady Macbeth comforts him by saying, “Consider it not so deeply.” (2.2.41) and “These deeds must not be thought / After these ways; so, it will make us mad.” (2.2.44-45), reassuring Macbeth with lack of care, not to fret over what he has done. Macbeth cannot bare what he had just done, however, showing clear signs of anxiety and guilt, as he says, “Methought, I heard a voice cry, “Sleep no more! / Macbeth does murder sleep” –the innocent sleep”

He confesses his sin of adultery, all with the intention to save the lives of those he knew to be innocent at the expense of his innocence before the court of Salem. At the end of the play however, John himself is accused of witchcraft, and is faced with another moral decision. He must either must lie, and confess to a sin that he did not commit (that of witchcraft) and have this lie posted on the church door, or die for the sin of witchcraft that he did not commit. John wrestles with his conscience over this choice, and in the end, chooses to die telling the truth - that he is an honest man who did not commit witchcraft and told the truth no matter the consequences. Though John had already confessed his affair in front of the entire court, when Elizabeth is questioned she denies it, claiming that “[her] husband is a goodly man” (3.949-50). Her lying is understandable though because naturally when people are placed in situations where their words literally determine the life or death of a loved one, they will lie to protect them. However, it is not seen that way, and causes controversy since Proctor previously claimed that his wife never lied; this is a turning point in Elizabeth’s character because it proves Elizabeth still loves her husband enough to even defy her commitment to always tell the truth. Later, after the court deems John as a threat, both Elizabeth and John are sentenced to prison allowing Elizabeth ample time to properly assess her marital problems. She eventually comes to the conclusion that the affair was partially her fault and confesses to John that “[she] counted [herself] so plain, so poorly made; no honest love could come to [her]”
Basically talking about his lost love, self-torture and about being consumed by his past. To me I think writing was Poe’s way of coping with his wife death ,because it provided him with his own insane characters with similar pain for him to deal with, as opposed to detraction from his own pain so that he could come with these much the same with his on life. The poem setting seems like it’s midnight in a dark room where the protagonist wife has past away and he is in a terrible sate of grief and misery and all he wants is to bring her back, but he can’t, and he knows this. Then with doubt and fear he locks himself up inside this dark room, filled with darkness and hopelessness in the middle of the night and while he’s alone by himself, he hears the raven who I thinks is his subconscious also death. He wants the raven to deliver Lenore to him or show him to her, but the raven only mocks him seems like and shows’ him how no one waits for you after death, you are all by yourself.

Mrs. Mallard subconscious battles feelings of sorrow and happiness as she consider her husband’s death relief from a burden or how he might look at his funeral, “she knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death; the face that had never looked save with love upon her, fixed and gray and dead” (236-237) “But she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely.
