Healthcare systems are those activities whose primary purpose is to promote, restore or maintain health. Cuba is a developing country. Since from the time of the socialist revolution in 1959, it has tried to develop to a socialized healthcare system that provides excellent services for all their people and this has been a priority almost above all others. Healthcare is a stated-provided public service and most of the facilities are wholly publicly owned. USA, as a developed country, has an extremely privatized healthcare system. It is based on the principles of the free market economy. Most health care providers are privately run organizations in which around 65% of hospital are privately run. In terms of infant mortality rate, in 2006, Cuba’s infant mortality rate was 5.6 per 1000 live births, lower than the US figure of 7.0 per 1000 live births. This was not a big difference. In terms of life expectancy, in Cuba today is the same as for US citizens, which has the number of 77 years. All these implying that the influence on the infant mortality rate and life expectancy by these two health systems were similar, assuming other things being equal. In terms of equality, as Cuba is a socialized healthcare system, it put individual healthcare as a national priority. Therefore, it can address to the needs of every people in its country. In addition, it has tripled its number of health-care workers. Cuba went from one doctor for every 1393 people in 1979, to one doctor for every 159 people in 2005. It can even take care of its people who live in isolated areas. The national health is being increased. Not only that, Cube is sharing its experience of developing healthcare for all the people in a poor country through its medical diplomacy initiatives.
