Community Based Treatment Model A thirteen year old boy named John Black has been adjudicated for possession of a firearm while on school grounds. He was sentenced to 5 years probation and has been ordered to participate in a community based treatment program. Following balance and the restorative justice model, the Associated Marine Institute (AMI) and Challenge of Development Center are two community based programs which will provide behavioral modification, positive role-models, emotional changing, and intellectual functioning in order to make life changing adjustments and skills needed to be rehabilitated back into society. The balance and restorative justice models were created in the interest of the community and the juveniles.
