During the second term my focus has been on developing my skills to become a more valuable member of the health visiting team. My previous career within emergency nursing means I find the drop in clinic setting to be the area I am most comfortable within and this unscheduled method of contact a familiar one. I have been assisting the health visitor (HV) or child health advisor (CHA) each week with at least one clinic to improve my skills within this setting. This enables me to see a wide range of more common concerns and queries on a high volume basis but within a setting that affords me the opportunity to ask a colleague for advice if I am unsure. I feel I am learning a diverse range of subjects that will better equip me to answer questions
In school my friend’s parents came together to parent conferences. My mom was usually alone for those things and often made excuses why my father was not there. I grew up with my sisters they continue to remind me that they taught me how to walk with bribery of a Tootsie pop. My mother worked so much that myself and my sister barely ever saw her because she was always working or at home asleep. It was not until I was almost a teenager that she was more involved in my
Stories like that excite me, because for those who know me, know that the number one thing in which I am passionate about and excel, is working with little children. Becoming a pediatric nurse is my passion and something that I can see myself doing for the next 30 years. I would love to be able to go to college and come out debt free, but the fact that my family makes less than thirty thousand dollars a year, makes that likelihood very slim, if not impossible. This is why I am asking for your help with this scholarship. Providing me with this scholarship money will not only help me get through my schooling now, but it will also give the world, one more nurse who can be an angel to a sick child, like my cousin Vincent.
With my efforts, I was able to obtain a grant for my High School education in a private school and that made my mother so happy and proud. When I was 16 they discovered that I have a rupture in the retina of my left eye and she did everything to collect the money to take me to the hospital and had a surgery; I remember seeing her cried, telling the doctors to please fix my eyes, that she wouldn’t me suffer the same way that she did. Even that I don’t see perfectly well, I been able to succeed thanks to the prompt actions that were taken. I never thought of moving out of my country, what for? I had it everything: a house, a job, my family, a fiancée; but different social and family situations take me out of my nest and sent me to fly to a different world.
I never knew all the different types of treatments and therapy that my friend went through before she passed way in 2005, until I read more about it for my paper. While researching all this information I really wish the newer drug Kalydeco was approved while my friend was still alive. Even with some of the common side effects I really believe my friend would be still here today and would have lived passed 37. Overall, I really enjoyed looking up this information and writing this paper I feel I know a little more about this disease and understand the different symptoms as well. References Lauren B. After being sent to the hospital for having a brain injury, Drew’s family was heart broken but “confident that faith could lead them through crisis.”(249)Not sure on how I was going to take care of a kid while going to school and playing football all at the same time was a huge crisis. I knew that my girlfriend Thi needed me and so would my child. All I
I have strong opinions on medicating children. I am a mother of three boys; Isaiah 16, Tate 11, and Thomas 8 all have received the clinical diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD. As their mother, I felt it was their right for me to educate myself of common treatments weather it being medication or finding an alternative way for them to deal with day- to- day life. After discussions with various doctors and my un-liking
Although she is divorced, she has two pre-teen children 13 & 11 who are also lost and confuse of why mommy and daddy are not together. Due to some of those situations Janie finds ways to keep herself active; in being active she became excessively hyper and lacks sleep. Feeling like she is not good enough, Rayona goes out of her way to get his attention and make him want to be with her. About this, Rayona says, “I have tried things on Dad…tears, good grades, writing letters, getting him presents…He’d smile or send me a postcard or promise to call tomorrow and then weeks would pass” (9). Ray’s mom, on the other hand, is present in her life and takes care of her daughter, but Rayona is still often alone. Leaving Rayona at home by herself, her mother goes out and parties. When Ray’s mother, Christine, sneaks out of the hospital, she plans to drive to Tacoma to kill herself and leave Rayona behind.
Meeting the Needs of the Aging Population The aging population of the people born between 1946 and1964 are what we call the Baby Boomers population. Within the next twenty years this population is expected to increase 79% in the number of people over the age of 65. (Shultz, 2010) Many people of this population are seniors who live by themselves and require a little help with their every day needs. These needs include help with a little house cleaning, grocery shopping, or just the need of remaining healthy. There are many who just cannot really get around like they would like.
