Reasons Students Drop-Out of College College students drop out every day, and to most people it goes unnoticed, but the main question that lingers, especially in admissions offices, is what are the reasons that the students dropout. I believe that many people drop out for very simple and easy to fix reasons. Take a glance at a typical high school student. Mostly making good grades while holding a steady job or in many different extracurricular activities. They seem to be able to handle the pressure quite easily and are prepared to attend college. When they finally make it to college, for some reason, it seems they have forgotten all of their normal ways or study habits. Some reasons that this person could be dropping out could be that they cannot handle the pressure that college puts on them. College is a brand new academic world and professors don’t hold their students hands as much as high school teachers do. This might be difficult for students because they may not be used to having to do as much independent studying and may easily fall behind in their studies because they are not used to seeking outside help or tutoring. Left to their own devices the student’s grades slowly slip and before they know it they are failing. The grades seem to be un-repairable and students believe that the easiest thing to do is dropout because college is not for them. The schools environment could also be a reason that students drop out. It can be a bit overwhelming or frustrating for students to move from a typical high school to a large scale college where there are a lot more responsibilities and activities to engage in. Students are left at college with little chaperoning and get into more than they can handle with their new found freedom. With so many things to do on a college campus it is easy to get distracted and then get behind on their studies. Once again, they may feel
