I have to always be aware of these standards, and understand the impact on people, if I don’t work towards them. Reflecting on standards, gives me the chance to keep up to date, with any new standards. 1.4. My own values and beliefs could affect the job I do, within my role if I don’t have an awareness of my own values. I could find it hard to accept other staff members values and beliefs, and feel mine are the right ones.
1.1– A working relationship is where you are placed with other people and work as part of team where each individual is working following professional codes of conduct, towards shared goals. You work a set procedure and have a role in what you do. Time limits and boundaries apply and you do not have to like the people you work with but need to keep personal opinions and feelings to yourself. Mutual respect and understanding is a key factor in developing a good working relationship. A working relationship must be kept professional and formal.
And unawareness of recent changes might result in danger and harm of you and the individual you will be working with. You have a duty to keep service users safe by following policies, procedures and working within your job role. Each job title entails particular duties and responsibilities. Within each position there are routine tasks and activities and expectations. Individuals will be specifically trained to perform the responsibilities of their role.
This will save time in the long run, which should encourage most employees despite their initial frustration with the management system change. A series of training and preparation with individualized tutorials might mitigate some anticipated resistance. Inadequate communication may also cause resistance. Management will make the major decisions with regard to the scheduled change; it is their obligation to clarify these decisions to subordinates within the company. Management is also expected to properly handle the inevitable questions and grievances; it is important to avoid misinterpretation regarding the procedural
Alternatively their culture may require certain behaviours which we find strange. Also many individuals we support have a different set of values from our own, this doesn’t mean to say that you are right and they are wrong. We need to understand and value everyone regardless of differences. There is nothing wrong with having your own beliefs and values – everyone has them they are a vital part of making us the person we are. But we must be aware of them and hoe they may affect what you do at work.
I believe my guiding statement will definitely help me if I were to have a disagreement with my supervisor at work. First Respect will be very important when having a disagreement. Both parties should treat one with respect, to keep a common ground and eliminate conflict or chaos, especially in the work environment. If I am committed to my place of employment as much as my supervisor is committed, the disagreement would be easy to work out. However, in some cases both parties won’t come to and common agreement.
Any employee who chooses not to abide by this policy is subject to discipline by management, up to and including termination. OUR STANDARDS 1) It is expected that all employees be truthful. 2) Every employee must have respect for each other as well as our customers. 3) Trust is an essential bridge between all employees and customers. 4) It is expected that all employees maintain a proper level of knowledge.
Time management is very important in all aspects of life. If you do not have positive in this area, you will fail to accomplish specific goals, and benchmarks. Again, you must hold yourself accountable to be disciplined enough to manage your time wisely. The consideration and respect you show others is a big aspect of this area. People typically demand respect before giving it.
Different to the supportive elements to determine success, there is also a large range of barriers that both the client and the professional may face. It is extremely important for a human service professional to gain a full understanding of their client and their background and make sure all paper work is filled out correctly before meeting with them. It is best to set up the first meeting in a comfortable environment so that the process is not intimidating which could harm success. You can ensure that personal attitudes or beliefs do not obstruct the quality of your work by leaving your personal opinions and judgements at the door. It is vital that you go into work with an open mind and keep in mind the fact that not everybody’s beliefs and preferences are the same as your own. You should focus on your responsibility as a professional before your personal opinions. Service users should be treated according to their needs and preferences, not your own. You should maintain self-control and prioritize what is important and in this case, that is the individual who you are supporting.
