The company had become a successful manufacturer in the field of surgical instruments, medicines, baby products, consumer goods and various other technological innovations. The company’s own business segments had provided the hospital around the world with highly advanced technologies like X ray devices, diagnostic tools, dental machines and instrumentals, surgical technologies in the field of cardiovascular and neurological sciences and various other professional equipments and innovative products. Being famous for delivering innovative solutions to hospitals, consumers and Industries, it had been ranked as the most powerful and influential multinational company around the world. Codman & Shurtleff, Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, was established in 1838 in Massachusetts by Thomas Codman. His main objective was to design and fashion surgical instruments and that’s exactly what they did, by 1986 the company developed surgical instrument kits for use in Army field hospitals during the Civil War. The company showed a wide range of diversity as they provided over 2,700 products for surgery which included instruments, equipment, implants, head lamps and electrodes to name a few.
