I could see the catheter bag hanging from the bed which was filling up with blood instead of urine. I thought I was going to bleed to death as I can not accept blood transfusions, due to my religious beliefs. After a week in the hospital, the fluid in the catheter bag started gradually turning yellow. On day seven, the doctor came to my room and gave me the best news that I have heard in a long time. He said “Kerry you can go home but will need to follow-up with your doctor”.
Not only having great cardio, but a lot of strength to throw around a 220+ pound dirtbike for 30minutes plus two laps, twice. Motocross has been proven to be the second most physically demanding sport in the world, second only to world cup soccer. Many soccer players even admit that Motocross is more physically demanding after riding, as there are switching players, half time, or time outs. It’s 30minutes plus two laps (averaging about 35minutes) as hard as you can go to the checkered flag with no breaks. You do that twice per race, not even counting practice or qualifying.
The ACL tear requires surgery and take months to recover. Without the ACL, the knee loses its ability to maintain normal functions. The medial meniscus is the second structure damaged. The meniscus receives little blood supply and is slow to heal which is why it is usually surgically repaired along with the ACL. Most of the time a lateral meniscus tear occurs instead of a medial meniscus tear.
Athletic injuries, particularly in the weight room, are not given enough attention. I feel, as a personal trainer, I am one of the people responsible for making safety a bigger concern and raising awareness. PROBLEM/PURPOSE My article is titled, “Being safe in the weight room: proper supervision and correct form are critical in keeping athletes safe.” One of the articles main examples of safety neglect is an injury that happened in late September 2009 when University of Southern California senior running back Stafon Johnson suffered a traumatic injury to his throat and neck while completing bench pressing. The 275 pounds fell on Johnson’s throat as he was trying to complete the rep. This led to seven hours of surgery to repair his trachea.
What made this whole thing even worse was when he looked at my grandmother and just said “where is the baby”? That took a few days to figure out but at the time he was ill my wife was pregnant with our little girl. When we finally realized he kept asking about our baby he kept smiling upon talking about her. Our little girl was born a day earlier than her due date in November. After we were able to leave the hospital we went straight over to my grandfather’s house to show him that the baby was here.
None of which I did. Not knowing I that I was fulfilling a self prophecy I did nothing, I blindly became overweight without any consideration as to what it was doing to my health, but it was not until I reached the age of 46 that I had my first angina attack. I was having angina attacks multiple times every day as it went undiagnosed for 3 months. Finally the pain became too much pain I ended up in the emergency room where I was admitted and then diagnosis with a block artery. My artery was 95% blocked and I was in the hospital for a week (VA does everything slow) so I could get a stent put insert to open the artery.
Miss Sasaki underwent months of surgery and rehabilitation for her left leg which to this day still gives her pain and won’t bend all the way at the knee. Dr. Sasaki, who treated Miss Sasaki, took about a year to gain some of the weight he lost back but still doesn’t have an appetite like he used to. He went from having four rice bowls at every meal to barely managing to eat two in a meal. As for Mrs. Nakamuru, she faced some health issues and for years went from job to job trying to get out of poverty and to provide for her
Nicolas A. Gomez GS1140 Problem Solving Theory Mr. Jones 6/23/14 Unit 1 Research Paper 1: Paradigm Shift Imagining having to lose your arms or legs? One of the most important body parts us as humans use to survive every day. There have been reports of people being born with a missing arm or leg or even both as a pair. Also if we think about the veterans that have fought in the war and have had to lose a body part due to traumas or diseases caused during that time in battle. Scientists have discovered and invented what we call today “Prosthetic Limbs”, which are an artificial body part to replace the one missing, often seen as an arm or leg.
After answering a few more of the officer’s questions I was transported to Umass Medical, A Medical University in Worcester, Massachusetts. It took doctors a total of 14 hours and 2 operations to put my hand to the way it is now. I am missing my middle finger all the way down to my wrist and the tip of my ring finger. I also have massive scaring on my hand, arm, and foot (the doctors took a vein out of my foot to replace one in my arm that was badly damaged); all from one little firecracker. The moral of this story is simple don’t play with things you don’t know anything about, and whatever you do don’t play with
Another reason soccer is my favorite sport is from all the memories I have from playing the game. All the years I have played, I have won many games but also lost many games as well. It was great if my team won the game but even if we lost,we still had fun. We all enjoyed getting to play together. An experience that I have had playing soccer I will always remember happened when I was in tenth grade.
