Clinical Assessment Clinical Assessment 1. What other information would you like to learn during the interview with the family? What questions would you ask? I would begin by asking her parents if they have access or know her biological parents family history. What happens before she has the temper tantrums? When did they first notice the change in Clara and what was happening that day? I would also want to get to know Mr. and Mrs. Lawson in order to get an insight on their relationship. 2. In addition to the clinical interview, what other clinical assessment tools should you consider? Why? I would use the Rorschach test and the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). I would use the Rorschach test because in my opinion children at this age respond better to pictures than a series of questions. I would also use the Thematic Apperception Test again because it deals with pictures only in this case she would use those pictures to tell a story. 3. If you were preparing to diagnose Clara, you would refer to the DSM-IV classification system to evaluate her condition on five separate axes. What type of information would go into each axis? You are not asked to enter a diagnosis, only describe the kind of information that would be entered in each axis. Axis I- No smile, keeps gazing down, quite, temper tantrums during which she is inconsolable. Axis II- N/A Axis III- Both her eating and sleeping habits are not the same. Axis IV- Was adopted and no longer wants to go to preschool. Axis V- Not enough information to establish. 4. Do you think that diagnosing Clara would be beneficial or harmful? Explain why. I think that it would not be best to diagnosis Clara right now. I think that if we were to diagnosis her right now it would be harmful because we really don’t know what is causing the behavior with the little information that we have. I would
