Lake Huron is one of the Great Lakes and a major part of our fresh water system, which contains many wildlife and species. The lake however, is in a real danger, adversely effecting habitats, fish, wildlife, and human lives. Lake Huron has become a dumping ground for many companies, dumping waste that contains many pollutants. Bacteria levels have increased in the lake which can cause serious illness. These pollutants have reduced water quality, contaminated soils, and damaged the Lake’s ecosystems.

For many decades, water pollution has been a major environmental issue. "Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies and occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds" (Wales). Lake Huron, which is known as the third largest of the lakes by volume of Great Lakes, (Lakes Huron) water quality has been of major concern. Few major sources identified were faulty septic systems and agriculture. Some of the effects caused by the pollution included: disruption of aquatic life, elevated levels of nitrates and phosphates from polluted underground water, swimming prevention, and numerous outbreaks of Avian Botulism.
Classification also presents difficulties. Less focused surveys shift responsibility for the definition of the events to the respondent, and without the equivalent of police procedures the resulting reports are far from uniform. In addition victims determine whether the incident was a crime, not the law. The survey only provides information about the experience of victims, not information about the crime. There is no way to validate whether an individual’s account is true or false.

However, in New York City, the storm was costing about $200 million a day in lost economic activity. Not only did Sandy affect the geography, it affected communities. The lack of food, power, and heat affected absolutely everyone emotionally and physically, causing the sociology of disaster.

Hurricanes are known for causing severe structural damage to houses, but also have an effect on many businesses as well. Many people had to evacuate and be out of work for up to two weeks due to power outage and debris. Also, some businesses were damaged by flooding and wind, which caused the loss of crucial business equipment. Businesses were flooded along the Texas coast and lost all of their vital technology such as computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
This rapid spread greatly effected Europe in the 14th century. The most pressing issue caused by the Black Death was the large number of deaths and the rate at which they were occurring. The death tolls varied from place to place in Europe, and an exact number of how much all together was killed is unknown. However, historians estimate anywhere from 75-200 million people died from the plague within the span of 4 years. In some cities as many as 500-800 people would die daily by this disease.
1 Alec Negri February 7th, 2012 Mr. Dini A period Black Death There are a few chapters in every culture’s history that leave future generations in horror; one such chapter still haunts all of Europe. A pandemic that wiped out 30 to 60 percent of Europe’s entire population, and it took approximately 150 years for future generations to overcome the economic, social, religious and political ramifications it created. There is still an ongoing debate as to how this plague entered Europe or where it originated from; but the one theory that has found the most approval believes it originated in China and travelled along the Silk Route to enter Europe from the shores of Italy in the Spring of 1348. It is believed that the plague left Europe
