Research Paper--- The Evolution of Chinese Character There is one kind of ancient character that is most ancient characters, Chinese characters have played a significant role in the development of Chinese culture. Originally, ancient Sumerian and ancient Egyptian symbols existed, but only Chinese characters remain today. Chinese characters combine shapes with sounds and connotations to form unique, block-shaped characters that carry meaning. Archaeological researchers discovered many such signs carved on earthenware excavated from Banpo Village in Xi’an City and Jiangzhai Village in Lintong. It is safe to say that the earthenware signs are the first Chinese characters, which originated from drawings. Modern Chinese characters top 60,000, among which about 3,000 are commonly used, but still are huge numbers were changed until now. Through out the last three thousand years, there are been 3 main changes in Chinese characters that have had the positive effect on China. Chinese character is one of the oldest writings in the world(created in 14th century before christ). Even in the Shang Dynasty, which was 3,000 years ago, oracle bone inscription, a well-developed writing, already existed in China. The specialists and scholars' investigation and research indicate that the pottery inscription etched in the pottery wares which were unearthed in Yangshao Cultural Relic more than 6,000 years ago was China's oldest writing. In ancient times there was a very popular myth named "Cang Jie's Invention of Characters". According to this myth, Cang Jie, a historical chronicler of the Yellow Emperor over 5,000 years ago, was inspired by the footprints of animals and understood that different prints could be treated as marks to discriminate different objects, so he invented a lot of
