I always enjoy my grandma’s stories about her childhood. Even though, she is over eighty years old now, she still remembers her childhood memories pretty well. I realized that childhood memories have a huge impact on a person’s life. However, there are some memories that make me feel horrified to recall. I remember there was an unforgettable incident in my neighborhood, when I was eight years old. The incident was really tremendous that haunts me until now. It was a sunny and cozy morning. I was not in school that day. However, my sleep schedule was the same. I woke up early as usual and played around with my little doggy in the front yard of my house. My parents opened the electrical equipment store at home. My house was always crowded with many customers from early morning to midnight. From far away, I could hear the shrill noise of engines. It was Mr. Tuan’s motorbike. He was a former police officer before the Fall of Saigon. He liked to drive his expensive dark blue motorbike around the town in the morning. Sometimes, I thought he tried to show off his wealth since we lived in the neighborhood where most people worked extremely hard to make money. Most of my neighbors were manual workers or worked at home. I guessed many people in my neighborhood would be very jealous of his expensive bike. However, he was a very funny and talkative man. He had the ability to maintain his good relationship with my neighbors, especially with my parents. But I was always scared of him because of his harsh voice and enormous muscular body. He came to my parents’ store early that day to buy a new light for his home. My parents’ store was always crowded, so Tuan would park his motorbike in the front yard of the house next door.
