Social factors can have a large impact on children. Children who are not given the opportunity to socialist tend to become isolated and find it hard to make friends, they may become withdrawn and shy on meeting people and find it hard to communicate. Children then find it hard to become confident and may not feel they can ask for help or advice if needed. Economic factor such as a family living on a low income and may not be able to provide for their children as hoped. A Childs home can have an effect on their physical and mental health, making them more vulnerable to illness or disability due to poor diet or quality of food.
The lack of education leads to further development of barriers such as a financial barrier and poor lifestyle that makes them unable to provide for themselves and their child. Most jobs that do not require a high school diploma only offer a minimum wage and do not offer adequate benefits to meet all medical needs. “key indicators of health, infant mortality rates and low-birth weight rates, were elevated when infants were born to mothers who were less educated” (Flores et al,1998). Considering that statement I believe that the biggest barrier affecting this vulnerable population’s health is education. Vulnerable mothers that do not finish getting their education become discouraged and loose the motivation and drive to tackle the oncoming challenges that life brings, creating for them another barrier on the micro level; it being a financial barrier.
They will also lack people to confide in or go to for advice Child neglect, often overlooked, is the most common form of child maltreatment. This has a major impact on a child’s development. Most perpetrators of child neglect are the parents themselves. The physical, emotional and cognitive developmental impacts from child neglect in any childhood can be detrimental as the effects from neglect can carry on into adulthood. By the time a child reaches the age of six if he / she has experienced neglect his/her chances of having overall poor physical health increases .Infants can develop poor physical health if neglect starts even before the child I born.
Cultural deprivation means when children are deprived from things what they need. This can include the lack of values and support they get from their parents, which can influence on socialisation skills. It can be argued that due to lack of family structure, social cultural and soft skills pupils are less likely to underachieve. Cultural deprivation is a theory that many working-class children are inadequately socialised and therefore lack the ‘right’ culture appropriate for a successful education. Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term.

Women and children in America are vulnerable. Young mothers become vulnerable due to lack of education and resources to support themselves and their children. The lack of resources that are not available to this vulnerable population are causing children and mothers to live in low income high crime areas with inadequate healthcare and a small chance of obtaining an education. Community based programs are one way to tackle issues facing communities, that if not properly addressed will only worsen.
Every child deserves to have a family. Orphanage dammage children Children growing up in orphanages- wether they be government or private ones do not get the care they need. Research proves that without individual care, attention and stimulation, children’s brains and neurological systems do not develop normally. They develop learning disabilities, they have growth delays and they struggle with the psychological trauma of losing their parents and the abuse that led to the horrible end. Children cannot raise themselves.
Low income parents are in a culture of poverty. According to the Culture of Poverty theory, the conditions of poverty create its own subculture with its own attitudes, behaviors, and socialization. This culture then passes on across generations, which accounts for most of the poor kids to remain poor. Low income neighborhoods usually lead to bad schools. Why?
In the years of 1900-1985 during the 20th century, there were many social and economic conditions that were present in the Caribbean society. These conditions negatively affected the Caribbean. Measures were also implemented to improve such conditions. Some of the various social problems that were present were overpopulation, malnutrition, lack of housing, public utilities, diseases, lack of medical care and transport. Overpopulation or overcrowding occurred in various villages or communities because of the lack of housing and also of the lack of education; people kept having children and with this being a key factor to overpopulation.
For the past years, there are many cases where children, at an early age steal things from other people. There are also cases when children are either left or are given for adaption because their parents don’t want them to experience extreme poverty and so they think that giving them to others is the best way for the children to have better future. Some of them are being a parent to their siblings because they were left by their parents. What is the impact of poverty on the rest of us, in the middle class and in the upper class? Why should we need to know about this?
These are the income and non-income poverty. Income poverty is a type of poverty wherein the person is deprived of money and assets used to provide basic needs such as food and medicine. On the other hand, non-income poverty occurs when a person may have little money but their quality of life is poor. They do not have access to affordable services like schooling, health-care, safe water and the like. So what causes this worldwide dilemma?
