1.) The ages of the children I’m observing are about three to four years old. Every child looks healthy and all of them are thin except for two of them. Their height looks about 3” to 3’3”. Their weight looks about forty pounds. 2.) I’m watching a child named Suzie. She looks as if she’s Hispanic and Asian. She seems to have lost her shoe somewhere and is perfectly fine with that. Her large motor movements are slow but smooth. She appears to be cautious. A group of children are standing inside of a plastic field goal and rocking it until it falls over while they are inside of it, and are considering it fun. Suzie on the other hand is a couple feet away all alone just observing. As I’m watching her, I see that she is by herself quite frequently and at times, tries to keep up with the other children. Suzie is preforming mostly small motor movements. When I first got her and took a seat, Suzie came to me and told me, “Sarah popped this ball”. She told me this about four times while she was holding a flat ball. I responded by saying,” Oh, how unfortunate…” And she stared at me then walked away. It seems Suzie prefers to be alone for the most part. At times Suzie says, “Ayeeee guys!” But the kids don’t really pay much attention to her. She’s playing with a stack of Legos. 3.) After the dialogue Suzie and I had, the ball was left on the ground for a while. Now a little boy has picked up the ball. Suzie snatched the ball and said, “No! Mine!” The little boy didn’t put up a fight and walks away to the slides. There was no teacher involved in this. 4.) There was a child named Dylan. He was upset because his friend Noah stopped riding bikes with him to go play with cars on the table. Dylan kept asking Noah to come back and ride with him. Noah was no longer interested. Dylan became upset and went to the table where the cars were, picked up a train, and threw it on
