Lilian Frazer Mr. Brown English 101 26 Oct 2012 Chemotherapy and homeopathic therapy are both ways that many people treat various types of cancer. They both are widely practiced by many doctors and therapist around the world and are studied, for advancements, by many scientists every day. Though both have one central goal, to put cancer into remission they both do it in different ways. Remission is the process of canceling or reducing the number of cancer cells. Chemotherapy kills cancer cells with anticancer drugs. The ways chemotherapy can be transmitted are: IV, injection, by mouth, through a port, or a catheter. Homeopathic therapy is a system for treating cancer based on doses of a drug that in huge amounts produces symptoms in a hearty individual alike to those of the illness itself. Many factors differentiate these two treatments. Such factors are: cost, side effects, effectiveness, and moral/beliefs. Whether a patient chooses one treatment or the other, they both can have a significant financial toll on him or her. Chemotherapy, for an eight week treatment, can cost from one hundred dollars to thirty thousand dollars. The wide range is due to many factors. For example choice of medications as well as frequency, duration, and hospital charges of dosing routine can affect the price. Also how much a patient’s health insurance policy covers for the operation can affect how much a patient has to pay. On the other hand homeopathic treatments cost much less. For one session of homeopathic treatment it can cost from fifty dollars to three hundred dollars. The prices for these treatments also vary because of different factors. These reasons can be; rareness of the medicine, how much time the doctor visits with the patient, and also a patient’s insurance can affect the pricing.
