Check Please! Bay Area is a television program that rates diverse restaurants around the Bay Area. The host of the show Leslie Sbrocco leads the discussion with the three guest; Joseph Costarella, Mel Aubert, and Jewel Wilk, who all have different views on what an exceptional restaurant should look like. During the show, each of the guests unique personalities are exposed as they battle to let their opinions be heard. In Check Please, various types of dishes from all around the world are brought to the Bay Area for many in the area to experience. Thai, French, and Italian are all examples of the diverse culture that were represented during their discussion. Throughout the episode, one thing they all agreed upon was the satisfaction food gives one.
During the first segment of the episode Mel Aubert spoke about one of her favorites in the Bay Area, Mario Behemian Cigar Store. Mario Behemian is family-like restaurants who are famous for their grilled chicken sandwiches and also their pizza. They are, what many would call, a tradition Italian restaurant. Joseph, as a stay at home dad, thought the place was great to hang out with friends and family. Jewel agreed and added that the food had great flavor. They all thought the service was great and just a lively place to eat at anytime with anyone.
Joseph Costarella chose to speak about Sol 4 Bangkok as his favorite restaurant. The restaurant is name Sol comes from a Thai word meaning “street alley”. At this place, they try to incorporate a Bangkok street style to it. They most famous dishes there are the more simple and basic foods. Joseph favorite dish is the wonton. He likes the fact that they grill the fish and meat right before his eyes. Mel also agreed with Jospeh’s view of the place. To contrast their ideas, Jewel as an Asian lady was not impressed at all by the food. That did not stop Joseph and Mel from giving their thumbs up on the good portion, artistic creativity, taste, and service.
