Checklist for a Perfect Getaway

It was early in the morning when my family and I arrived at the port. The scent of the salty ocean was evident and the splashing of waves brought a promise of an exciting adventure for the family. The bright smiles on our faces were clearly visible, for we were unable to hide our excitement. It had been a long time since we’ve visited my father’s hometown, Bohol. I had missed it a lot and I was all ready to make this vacation, one hell of a trip. We started to grab our bags and walked towards the terminal, where the tricycles were lined up, ready to take some passengers. The terminal was near the shops and stores, which made the place a little noisier than it’s supposed to be. The noise of the vendors who were advertising the island’s delicacies did not blend well with the noise of the drivers who were trying to get some passengers. We stopped near a green tricycle and decided to ride it. The speed of tricycles was not comparable to the speed of modern day cars, but, its slow speed gives an opportunity for the passengers to enjoy the green scenery of the island. I miss this, I thought, as I looked at the untouched farmlands, the green trees that swayed with the wind, and the colorful flowers that decorated the side of the road. This island was definitely the perfect getaway place where I could relax and unburden myself from the stresses of the city. It wasn’t until when my mother called out my name, when I had noticed that we had arrived at our hotel. I grabbed my backpack and got off the vehicle, and was then greeted by the fresh island wind.
