Nowadays, when we think of the word “hero”, we think about Superman, or Batman. People from ancient times, may instantly think of the great Hercules. What is your definition of a hero? The perfect example of a determined, brave, and curious hero is Odysseus, who is shown throughout in one of them most well known epic poems of all time, “The Odyssey.” What comes to your mind when you think of braveness? Throughout his epic journey, Odysseus is portrayed as a brave hero. If you think about the many myths, legends or movies, there is always a hero who is brave. Odysseus in this case, couldn’t be the exception. In the Odyssey, for example, Odysseus had to go through the Underwold. If you think about it, not many would’ve dared to go. Of course, Odysseus was scared, but those are details that people don’t even bother to mention. Throughout his journey, Odysseus faced many obstacles that could had only be faced with braveness. Curiosity often times get many people in trouble, and heroes are not the exception. When odysseus and his crew landed on the land of the Cyclopes, Odysseus could’ve demand to run away, yet he decided to stay. That is what caused him to lose a few of his men. He could’ve saved himself some time, and maybe would’ve been able to get back home sooner. To escape from the Cyclops’ cave, Odysseus blinded the Cyclops, which caused Poseidon to get angry. If I were to be in Odysseus situation, I would not make any of the gods mad, especially the god of the sea. That just made his journey, even more miserable. It is good to be curious, but is it not good to abuse it. The Odyssey, shows many perspectives of an epic hero. It is a poem, that truly takes you on a voyage. Finally, it tells the obstacles that Odysseus had to overcome, in order to be remembered forever as an epic
