Chapter I INTRODUCTION Nowadays, junk shops crowd up with scrap metals. On the other hand, proper disposal is also a problem. Scrap metals are readily available in junk shops but never did the society see that scrap metals may also be used to answer the disposal problems of today. Trash bins are very useful to throw away things we no longer need and may still need to recycle. The problem is once an individual disposes a material they could not recycle the materials immediately, since they still need to sort and shred them before recycling. This leads the researchers to make use of scrap metals from junk shops to be used as main materials in making a garbage shredder. In various conditions, this garbage shredder can be of great help to the society even in schools & malls. This garbage shredder can be used to grind garbage into smaller pieces after a user throws his garbage. And as soon as garbage collectors come to empty the bin, it would be a lot easier to recycle the garbage afterwards, since it is already shredded. As the researchers eye on this topic, there are certain problems yet to arise, whether the scrap metals will work well as garbage shredders or not. The thought of the success of the product is also a question. Yet this leads the researchers to find the answers to unraveled questions. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Main Problem: How effective could the garbage shredder be, with the usage of scrap metals as main materials in making it? Sub Problems: How effective is the garbage shredder in terms of: Speed Shredding thin objects Shredding bulky objects HYPOTHESIS Scrap metals are possible materials to produce effective garbage shredders. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY This study contributes to the society in terms of finding a solution to the outgoing problems in garbage disposal. The research could benefit the concerns of people
