As Urban and agriculture development is needed to meet the needs of the growing population. Engineers have been forced by the rising population to drain areas of wetlands, to make space for development. In this development the clearing and paving of land the precipitation drainage is prevented as well as the water-table not being replenished. The agriculture development has degraded the quality of the water from elevated nutrients such as Phosphorus. These increases have been traced back to application of fertilizer to fields and processing of agriculture and human waste products.
Population increased as agricultural productivity did. The more food surplus they had, enabled them to support a larger population than ever before. The Han’s agriculture increased partly because of the iron industry for tougher implements, and the roman began to specialize production, and concentrate on latifundia for export. Colonization’s of neighboring nations also brought in large amounts of citizens. The Han Empire invaded northern Vietnam, Korea, and Xiongnu and subjected them to Han rule.
In the northwest region the population increased therefore, the demand for food did as well. The regions were simultaneously increasing production and profits for each other. The Northwest region depended heavily on the northeast for purchasing most of their products and the Northeast region depended
Industrialization was creating even more towns, increasing this problem. So in order to feed his industrial workforce Stalin needed to revolutionize agriculture. He achieved this through forced grain seizure and the prosecution of kulaks and forcing peasants to work together in ‘collectives’. By doing so he was able to secure extra grain to feed the growing urban population of workers and sell the surplus to gain foreign currencies for purchasing foreign machineries. Though collectivisation may have had short term boosts to the economy but the effects of collectivisation were disastrous.
Overpopulation is a current environmental issue “where an organism's numbers exceed the carrying capacity of its habitat. In common parlance, the term usually refers to the relationship between the human population and its environment, the Earth.” IT is causing deforestation and starvations but we have to grow. Our population growth rate is increasing at a steady rate. We cant really lower the growth rate but we can build more cities where many people can live. 26.
The sage, soldier, and merchant castes have especially struggled for predominance over the working and/or peasant social classes. Priestland’s thesis also states the idea that certain alliances throughout the social caste conflict had brought out positive results and has shaped the world and history as we know it today. The geography and location of civilizations greatly effected how societies evolved and functioned. A society that existed in a very agricultural area produced an abundance of crops for self-sufficiency as well as trade and income. This produced a very large working class composed of farmers and agriculture related
The mix of immigrant and different ethnicity working together created what makes Hawaii so diverse and unique today. Immigration has been and continues to be a great importance to Hawaii’s social, economic, and political life. At the time the economy of Hawaii was bombing from the profit of goods from the plantations, with the increase of profit they need more workers to work. Plantations would grow rapidly and to speed up the process of harvesting crops and good, with the low amount of people on Hawaii the plantation owner sought for new workers that would work for lower pay, this lead them to go for foreigners. When Hawaiian plantations began to increase, there was a dyer need in labor force needed to be imported.
The century of the 1800s saw massive amounts of change, especially in places like Great Britain. Many citizens in rural areas found themselves migrating more towards living in the cities. Thanks to new agricultural technology, the industrial revolution and changing social environments people during the 1800s started to move to cities in large numbers. Farming has been a well known trade for centuries but during the 1800s farmers started to become more creative and new technology was mad to enhance farming techniques. With technology like the steel plow and the use of crop rotation, farmers were able to produce more food using half the amount of resources.
On farms that had become vacant, peasants took ownership and started making more money. In many cities, the wages were rising so rapidly that the government tried putting laws on the amount that wages were to rise since the amounts in which they were going up was so ridiculous. (Zahler, pg. 34) Since people were making so much more money, and since serfdom had been reduced to such a miniscule amount, a new class was created, the working class. It enabled people to work for the money they needed, rather than resting soley on the decisions of landlords.
This allowed the worlds to have more trade and the people to have more variety and things to eat. Lastly, another important effect is that farm land is much more common since people are now farming the newly discovered land. The amount of calories per hectare or 100 acres has greatly increased, as stated in document 8, which is helpful to nourish people and expand trade. All these things greatly helped civilization and the worlds at this time period. The negative and deadly effects of the discovery of the Americas were undoubtedly costly to civilizations and worlds, as I will state in the following paragraphs.
