Brown AJS/501 6/4/2012 Mrs. Cora Anderson Challenges of Graduate Studies Most people think about the next steps in education upon achieving their bachelor's degree, the decision has to be made if obtaining a Master's is right for them. This subject will not just pop up after graduation but you heard about it before entering college and while in attendance at college. It is a big leap to that next step, however, there are challenges that are faced when making that decision. I knew it was going to be a big step but I was ready for my challenges. The three challenges faced by graduate students and myself are time management, finances, and stress management. These challenges will play a day to day role in my life and I will have to tackle them head on. I will not be able to focus on school and possibly could fail without finding coping skills for my challenges. Effective time management is a combination of many skills(Kay, 2011). To make sure I have time to do everything in my schedule I will have learn how to deal with work, school, and my family life to be successful in my studies. Concerning my studies I will have to become very organized. I will obtain a planner and write everything down that I need to do in a day and record things as they come up. Acquiring a planner will help me stay on task and I will know what I have to do every hour of my day. I will form time blocks for work, school and leisure activities. But, if something comes up during and important event, I will also have to learn to say just no. I will be able to plan things out, according to the course syllabus making sure that there is time for everything. Chronically overspending time is just as debilitating as chronically overspending
