But during this economic recession, college students have been having a difficult time staying in the college path, especially working class students. The lack of moral support from their families prevents these unfortunate students to finish their college education. The increase of college tuition and limited financial aid are causing students to go into debt, making them hesitant whether they should keep studying or not. Also it’s preventing students from picking needed major but because the low paycheck they are not sure if they will be able to be sustained. But college drop outs also can able be due to the unequal college preparation given in high schools.
During this time, the state made several cuts to social care. This affected the social service industry greatly. The State of Illinois was the largest contributor to the agency for its duration, and had become delinquent with payments. This has affected the employees of Hull House as they are not receiving timely reimbursements, unable to carry out all work duties because of the reduction in hours, and receiving lower wages. The workers were not visiting the clients on a weekly basis as mandated by DCFS and paperwork was consistently late.
The gender roles, as well as how minorities fit into society affected how images and advertisements were portrayed. At the time, since so many people lost their jobs, many men were out of work. “Men's lives were more disrupted by the Depression than women's. As men tried desperately to remain breadwinners for their families, their self-esteem suffered when they lost their jobs” ("Encyclopedia.com"). Because they were not in work, men had more time than they did before the Great Depression, when they were in work.
The economy is making people turn into crime to get money. A lot of the crimes are taking place because of the economy a lot of people are getting laid off and do not know what to do to provide for themselves and as well as for their family. As the economy gets worse and worse there are more inmate population. When an inmate arrives they are provide with everything and in someone else expense. The community with their taxes they pay it provides them with everything.
It seems that they are not able to make it financially on their own. I know that it is not only my children that are having a hard time, several families are experiencing the same issues with their children. Those people suffered badly and eventually died. Because of this, many children fought their lives without their fathers, which led to families’ financial problems. Economically, many labourers got drunk and so they could not perform the job properly. The absence from work each week was very high, therefore the company was less efficient. The company could not afford to produce the same products in the time that they should and the industrialists were not satisfied.
More importantly, it hurts the lives of the many people that were working for Hostess. They can't make a living without a job, without a job they wouldn't have the money to pay for their bills or even their house and might even add to the growing population of homeless people. It would also hurt the states in which the bakeries or plants were shut down. Also, the liquidation affects the people who love Hostess, people who grew up with Hostess, and the new-coming babies that won't be able to enjoy any of their products anymore. The Union is supposed to help the economy, not take away businesses that will help it.
In addition, individuals who drop out of high school end up with minimum wage jobs. Countless high school drop outs don’t meet qualifications when they apply for various positions. Almost everywhere, a person goes to fill out a job application a high school diploma is part of the qualifications. In other cases, the applicant needs more training to apply for the positions that he or she desires. Therefore, more education is required in this present day of time.
Then the student decides to drop to a part-time worker, register for less class hours to find more time to work on improving their grades. But what they soon fail to realize, is that now they will have to hold off on graduation a little longer. Also there are other students who just can’t afford the expenses of college, so they may end up dropping out before they even reach the second semester. It seems many people had lost their jobs during the last 6 years, which created less jobs. So many jobs opportunity had been cut of; it was one of the biggest problems we had, because it is very difficult to find a stable job out here in California. During the last year on December, I’ve been searching around for the best job I can find as possible, but the jobs available were mostly at the fast food restaurants, and very low wages. So if we were not being able to find a better job, surely she cannot afford to pay her bills and also for her school as well. Secondly, because of school fees for a non-California residency is way more expensive.
