One of the most apparent drug threats Nevada is exposed at is heroin. Highly addictive, black tar is the kind of heroin that is commonly found in the state. In fact, there has been an increase in the use of this drug. However, low quality heroin is also readily available to those who can only afford that much. Since the number of heroin addicts is increasing, the call for a drug and alcohol rehab center in the area is a must.
One of the most popular drugs invented in this decade was LSD also known as acid, which is a hallucinogenic drug (Neary 122). Society in our world is used to seeing people take legal drugs (like cigarettes or alcohol) because they are allowed to be taken in public places. Illegal drugs, on the other hand, make you an outsider of society (except to drug junkies, who will see you as their best friend).The people in the New World get soma for free because it is, as already mentioned, all ordered and offered by the government. In comparison to that you have to pay for drugs in our world, and most of them have expensive prices that are only affordable to people with enough money. Legal drugs, however, aren’t as expensive as the illegal ones. This has the consequence that many people have to commit crimes and go into prostitution to buy the drugs they depend on.
Cocaine is another stimulant that often leads to dependence in users. It is derived from coca leaves, and was once a socially acceptable drug. Coca Cola used cocaine along with caffeine and sugar to produce one of western society’s most popular beverages (Rathus 113). Nicotine is yet another frequently abused stimulant prevalent in our time. Smoking is the primary causal factor for at least 30% of all cancer deaths, for nearly 80% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and for early cardiovascular disease and deaths (Adhikari B., PhD, J Kahende, PhD, A Malarcher, PhD, T Pechacek, PhD, V Tong 1).
By making drugs legal we are lowering the standards of our country. Drugs are dangerous and can not only harm the person using them, but also the persons that user comes in contact with. If illegal drugs are legalized criminal acts, health problems due to drug use
