Cause of Global Warming

One of the greatest challenges our planet is facing is global warming, also known as climate change. Climate change is an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures. (Justin Gillis, “Carbon Dioxide Level Passes Long-Feared Milestone,”). Global warming has been a subject that widely debated among politicians and scientists. Scientists believe that global warming is also caused by man-made such as pollutions from human activity. Population also plays a big factor in global warming. (Weeks, Jennifer. "Climate Change”) Global warming has a huge impact on our planet causing significant worldwide climate changes. The major causes of global warming are greenhouse gas, population from humans, and population growth. . In short, global warming represents a fundamental threat to all living things on earth. (Weeks, Jennifer. "Climate Change) First, Global warming is cause by the increase in greenhouse. One natural cause is a release of methane gas from arctic tundra and wetlands. Methane is a greenhouse gas. A greenhouse gas is a gas that traps heat in the earth's atmosphere. “We cause global warming by increasing the greenhouse effect, and our greenhouse gas emissions just keep accelerating,” (John Cook “Quantifying the Consensus on Anthropogenic Global Warming in the Scientific Literature,”) Most scientists agree that planet’s temperature has risen 0.5 degree Celsius since 1900 and will continue to increase at an increasing rate.(Weeks, Jennifer. "Climate Change.") As a result, the world is getting warmer. Rising global temperatures will speed the melting of glaciers and ice caps and cause early ice thaw on rivers and lakes. (Weeks, Jennifer. "Future of the Arctic."). For more than a decade scientific studies have shown that global climate change is altering the Arctic more rapidly than the Earth as a whole. (Jennifer Weeks, “Climate Change,”pp. 521–544).
