In this journey of my college life i would have to say that it has been the biggest milestone for me. I have been able to see how college education is a very valuable thing and everyone should be able to get one so that we can all be enlightened and help make our society a better place. College is a place where people come together in an environment that helps nurture their educational and professional curiosities. I have been able to have different encounters with all kinds of different people in many different settings and this has given me a big boost of confidence. College education has a profound effect in my life , it has helped me chose my career more wisely and the college experience has made me become more confident and make better and well judged decisions.
Having a college degree makes living the American Dream a lot easier, and it helps you grow as an adult and teaches you leadership roles. And the last reason why college matters is because it helps you interact with other people better. Communication plays a very important role every single day and a lot of employers rely on their employees to have sufficient communication skills. Some people tend to interact with people very well and others don’t. For the people who don’t interact with people well, college will give you the opportunity to enhance your communication skills for the real world.
It increases my ability to do something and gives me more opportunities. Completing college to get a degree will give me a strong sense of pride and self, having the degree will better my confidence and it will single me out from the ones who don’t own one. The pros of education far exceed the cons. It is important for one to have an education for my own satisfaction, as well as better job opportunities and it is a good investment for my future. I am currently enrolled in online college and I am pushing myself to stay focused.
Although both authors prove strong points it is obvious that whether your choice is college or trade school, as long as you apply yourself you will be guaranteed future success. “The individual benefits that college graduates enjoy, including high levels of savings, increased personal/professional mobility, improved quality of life for their offspring, better consumer decision making, and more hobbies and leisure activities” (Porter, 494). Porter is explaining that a college educated individual will have a life full of endless opportunities, and a strong set of morals. During my time at American Public University I hope to gain a well rounder education.
