The causes and effect of dropping out of college
According to the data from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed in 2000 that one in three Americans drops out of college. This is because of all the struggles they will face as being a new college student. A lot of times, students do not realize what lies ahead. College student drop out of college because of the following reasons: not focusing on what they are doing, personally and family issues and financial problem.
Today college student does not pay attention to what they are doing. The reason is those students are unprepared for academics because the student directly comes from high school. Some of the high schools do not prepare students for college because their goal is just to have them passed. But colleges are stricter and their goal is to succeed. At this time students think they will not succeed and quit. Students become engaged more in entertainment. Students start hanging out with new friends and they do not go to class or complete assessments. This puts them on academic probation due to suffering grades or absence in classes. This time they cannot make good grade. Deciding on wrong major also a great problem. Sometimes students pick a major that they aren’t really interested in. Like if student has a major in science and h/she like to go with marketing. If those colleges do not have that major, they should change college. At this time student has a great dilemma.
College student need more self-determination and family support. If a student has recently gotten married or divorced that can heavily affect their mental as well as studying environment. Unfortunately, as life may dictate, unexpected life situations can and the student is forced to come home. Finally, this brings a big hamper on their grade and education and they don’t like to continue their education.
