As soon as doodle and his brother finished eating they went off to Horsehead Landing. When they reached the landing, Doodle was to tired to swim, so he just went with the tides. After they had drifted a long way, clouds started to gather and turn black. When Doodle and his brother finally reach Horsehead Landing they heard lightning scream, it silenced the sea. By that time Doodle was exhausted and terrified, and so he fainted into a pile of mud, his brother surprisingly helped him up, and decided to go back home.

The boys must care for themselves in order to survive. Ralph gets chosen as their leader, but his work is constantly interrupted by Jack, who wants to be the leader. Later on, Jack creates a fire and smokes Ralph out of his hiding place. A passing by ship sees the smoke and the boys are finally rescued.

Later, a tornado hits close to Brian’s shelter and destroys his shelter and puts out his fire. It also throws his tools into the lake. With fire, he is protected from animals.
Cabeza de Vaca and his aspiring men dug their raft out the sand and used their clothing to repair it. Sailing out they were hit by another wave that shredded the boat again. Many of the men drowned forcing them to return to the island. The Indians returned the next morning to see what happened and immediately withdrew. On April 18th, 21 young boys boarded a plane in hopes of leaving the country to be in a safer place during the war. About an hour after takeoff the planes engine stopped working and the pilot lost all control he had over the plane.

His crew begins to further question what is in the bag and they begin to think that Aeolus has secretly given Odysseus a bag of fortune in gold and silver. With this thought, they become exceedingly greedy. They tear open the bag and the winds are released, blowing the ship back to Aeolia.
