Alex Wagner Hobbs ENC1101 1 October 2014 Summary and Personal Perspective Essay “In response he expected us to play the part of an enthusiastic family, but we were unwilling to resume our old roles” (44). In life, unreliable people surround us. These people often break promises, bringing disappointment to others. Sometimes the undependable person may not realize the disappointment the empty promises bring to others. Like in the quote from “The Ship Shape” by David Sedaris, the father expected the family to be excited about the promises, but instead they were disappointed because they had been let down numerous times.
McCandless was very much like his father, as was Krakauer, which gives another tie to who McCandless resembles in Krakauer’s life. Into the Wild is an exaggerated story of who Krakauer really is. He lived his life on the edge climbing mountains that would seem impossible, but he has a limit. McCandless on the other hand had the attitude to go until he could not go anymore, which lead to his death. Krakauer is trying to show that his life is full of adventure and death defying feats, but he trained himself to know when the road gets too rough.
PAD 515 Week 3 Discussion Carver is missing some very basic values and attitudes. He is missing being considerate, respectful, fair, cooperativeness. The changes that Carver needs to make are numerous. The changes will be difficult for him to sustain, as they are not his “style”, but change can be achieved, as with anything, if he works on his values and attitudes. It will more than likely take his subordinates and co-workers even longer to trust that he has changed and that he will adhere to his new found values and attitudes.

Even though both Jefferson and Grant Wiggins learned a good lesson, I felt that Grant was the one that had learn much more. Jefferson was just not open to his family members and those close to him, but had either recorded or kept his feelings inside. When he actually expressed his sadness and frustration to people, I guess some people would classify that as a big lesson learned, but I think Grant went through some major change. Grant had first felt that there was no point in his lifestyle. Why was he living like this?
Hakeem is faced with another tough situation because he wants to keep his uncle happy but doesn’t want to get onto Savons bad side so he is lost with what to do. Overall I think this theme re occurs in this book many times to make the ending seem a lot greater than it actually is, to an average person they wouldn’t think anything of it. But someone dealing with the struggles that Hakeem has been facing would take it as a blessing. During the book Hakeem plays the guitar and writes music and poetry to vent out all his built up
Ethical standards are the code of conduct required by the organization for workers to follow. The relationship between organizational culture and ethics is that the organizational culture guides workers when faced with ethical problems. If the organization culture counters what they are required to do ethically, workers may put the organization in jeopardy by not act ethically. When a worker is faced with a decision that others within the organization think as appropriate, though it is unethical, the worker may follow what is acceptable as per the culture. It is the relationship between organizational culture and ethics that can get businesses into significant trouble in the long term.
Let’s get up and be saved.” This is Westley feeling as if he was ready to be saved after waiting for so long. Hughes was hesitant on following in his steps. He disagreed with Westley going up because he was tired of sitting. Huges uses tone, theme, as well as figurative language to explain that although others were being saved he was not happy with his form of “salvation”. “Now it was getting really late.
My claim about Avi is that he wants to prove his toughness to him and his friends. Why I believe this is because he says " when I was nine, I worried that I wasn't tough enough". Avi lied to his parents that their scout master was going with them but he betrayed scouts honor. But he said to his scout master after he asked Avi about how he wouldn't lie what about scouts honor, Avi said yes. So by Avi saying yes he was saying that he wouldn't lie but on the other hand he lied so he can prove that he is tough.
