The competencies exercise revealed my top strengths to be leading, cooperating, coping with pressure, networking, taking initiative and innovating. I am someone who enjoys leading and developing others to achieve results. I can improve upon my critical thinking skills by knowing my strengths and accepting my weaknesses. This will also help with evaluating arguments in a meaningful way. When one knows their competencies they can step up and utilize their strengths and leverage others when needed.
One of my personal strengths is that I am able to cut straight to the chase in any situation and not be sidetracked by non-essential issues; Moreover, I have a propensity for leadership, which follows naturally, from my ability to control and manage real world situations. In addition, I am aware of the differences between my needs and the needs of others. A strength that I possess on the Myers-Briggs assessment is that I am an innovative thinker. On the other hand, a negative trait would be that I tend to be a perfectionist. When I do things, I do them in such a methodical way, that I am not satisfied until they are just right in my eyes.
This will reduce the animosity with peers and students. It will be important to improve my listening skills. This will essentially improve my feedback to individuals communicating with while receiving acceptance from them due to taking the time to understand their view. A key way to improve these skills is asking questions that stir the speaker to explain their points
This always helped in generating better ideas and always made our brainstorming sessions productive. Several factors affected the operation of our team due to our divergent personalities. One of the traits I was lacking before I became a member of this team was my ability to flex my personality style to take on roles that didn’t allow me to be within the comfort zone of my leadership style. According to the Bolton and Bolton leadership style I possess an analytical personality which shows that I am more responsive and less assertive. The positive enforcement on the concept that leadership can be learned encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and assume responsibilities that required different personality styles.

Respect, Integrity, motivated, approachable, supportive and encouraging are the words that come to my mind and are values that are important to me and this is how I choose to conduct myself personally and professionally. Keeping up to date with the latest information and skills and to continue developing my skills and knowledge is also valuable as an effective leader and I encourage my employees to continue to learn and ask questions. To be an effective leader you also need to be a good role model and to me this means leading by example. Assertiveness: Assertiveness is one of the key essential skills in the modern working environment which means standing up for what you want, stating your needs clearly and expressing opposition where possible. However, be mindful that your aim is to solve the problem and get the best result and not to be seen as being aggressive. Being faced with situation such as managing difficult tenant/service users/staff, dealing with aggressive people such as drug users, mental health, or bullying at work etc. policy and procedures should be in place to handle individual situation. If handled correctly, there are benefits when assertiveness is applied such as: better time management, increased self esteem and the ability to negotiate more effectively.
