Throughout “On the Rainy River”, Tim’s influences, Elroy and his hometown, ultimately drive him to make the same decision, even though they represent very different things. Tim’s home-life is filled with pressures and responsibilities that at first he cannot handle. When the draft notice comes, all these forces initially push him away, but later, help him to make the decision to return and face the draft. When Tim describes his existence in Worthington, Minnesota, it becomes obvious that he is not extremely fond of his life thus far. As a declotter at the Armour meat-packing plant, Tim’s days are tough.
Around the world there are Army’s like the one in this book, that do not care what they are shooting at or killing, even if it is a poor animal that has done nothing wrong. Lastly, people have many problems they will have to deal with throughout their life. In the book, Sophie’s mom leaves the sanctuary to go study Bonobos across town. While she is gone the Congo Army comes and kills the workers at the sanctuary but Sophie gets away with Otto. She has to take care of herself and the baby Bonobo.

The Theme of Masculinity in “Hunters in the Snow” In the short story “Hunters in the Snow” by Tobias Wolff, three friends named Tub, Kenny and Frank are out hunting in the wilderness. Like many men they joke around and have their own personal secrets. Most of the time these friends act just as they are, like men. Frank and Kenny always ridicule Tub about his weight. Also, at the end of the story there is a surprising twist.

Explorer La Perouse listed the native’s diet as mostly, “hares, rabbits, and deer are extremely common; seals and otters as abundant as in the more northern parts; and in the winter they kill a great number of bears, foxes, wolves, and wild cats.” (67) The Indians lived in huts made of plants and mud, disease was also well known for this wild civilization. They practiced rituals and festivals, most of which the Spanish did not know what was being celebrated. The Spanish described the natives as lost people, generations of knowing no civilization or the riches life could bring.
Even though the sandkings enslaved Kress after they found him near the house, I think Kress didn't earn enough punishment. He has the evil spirit inside his body which obliterated his humanity when he let the shamble happened in his final party. I think Kress' inability led him had a cruel characteristic like sandkings had when he followed his pets order. His inhuman actions costed his pets revenged him and killed his friends in the party. Therefore, it is reasonable for Kress to be order a death penalty to pay off the crimes he made to
Aggravated, Odysseus carefully planned a trap with the help of two loyal men and killed all the suitors. Odysseus is someone who would not be considered heroic today for he was disrespectful, cheated his wife, and killed many people. In the beginning of the Odyssey, Odysseus landed on the land of the Cyclopes. There he and his men met Polyphemus. Odysseus thought very low and rude about him.

But back then the problem was that they new that they were killing animals but they didn’t care because there was heaps of them. But not so much today… Animals such as cheetahs and grizzly bears are being extinct due to their fur. They are wonderful creatures that do no harm. Fur trappers set out traps in and near the animals native homes and just wait for it to come along and get caught in it. For example there is the leg trap this is a very sad and painful death.
