Can What I Wear Make A Difference? Imagine being able to wake up every morning, roll out of bed, wearing the same outfit from the day before, and then head off to school. It would be one less thing for you to stress about as you unwind in the morning if you’re wearing your school uniform. As you sit there enjoying your breakfast, your non-uniform counterparts are probably experiencing the exact opposite. They can’t figure out what to wear, wasting their time standing in front of a mirror, and may even be late for class. These are the realities for many students across the board. But what side of the fence would you rather experience; a morning full of stress, and confusion, or a morning full of ease with one less thing for you to worry about? If your answer was the second option, then you should continue reading about why school uniforms should be instilled into schools, and the great benefits they bring to the learning environment. To get things started, when the topic of uniforms in schools arise, you hear the typical, "uniforms are boring!", "Uniforms are unnecessary!", "they take away a student’s freedom of expression!”. With emphasis on the last comment regarding freedom of expression, this is where some parents and most students will argue that school uniforms stifle individualism, and strain a student’s freedom to express themselves. However, the clothes that people wear, or can afford to wear often define the group by which they are accepted. As a result, many of these students become outcasts due to the fact that they cannot afford top-of-the-line clothing. Implementing school uniforms would help solve and reduce this outcome by essentially eliminating the difference between social classes.
