Cambodian Wedding Ceremony Wedding Ceremony is considered as the important thing for every Cambodian people who wish to have a good life with valuable and honorable in society. The wedding ceremony where generally celebrated at the bride’s house regarding to Cambodian custom, usually takes one day and half to celebrate. This kind of a huge ceremony consists of many sub-ceremonials which are divided into three main parts to celebrate. To begin with, is about the preparation which both of bride and groom’s families has to pay attention to. Frequently, it takes half a day to complete and as the ceremony will be celebrated at the bride’s house, then they have to do everything related to the ceremony at the bride’s house. Firstly, they need to prepare the fruits and cake since these two things are the unforgettable thing for the ceremony. Cambodian use only the common fruits such as apple, orange, grape, and banana; about the cake, Cambodian only use the custom cakes which are known as ‘Num Aun Som’ and ‘Num Kom’. They will start the preparation in the early noon, and the group of cooker is response to build two halls which the small one is used for the cooking and another big one will be made in front of the bride’s house for the guests. To end with, after they finished, there is only close relatives who have invited to help and have a small dinner in the hall they created. Now, it is the time for the ceremony day, as mentioned above, it involves lots of sub-ceremonies which customarily starts in the early morning till the late noon before it starts again for the evening banquet. The thing to do is to bring all fruits and cakes, in termed of wedding gift, that were prepared since the night to the front of the bride’s house by only the groom’s relatives, this ceremony known as ‘Pi Ti Hae Jum Noun’.
