P6) Introduction: For this assignment task I have been asked to produce a report for a client describing the essential points of a contract to protect consumers when purchasing a new kitchen and how consumers might be protected in a contract for supply of goods and services in the event of faulty plumbing of the new kitchen. The essential points of a contract to protect consumers and how the consumers are protected The Sales of Goods Act 1979 is a key piece of legislation that protects the consumer when making a contract regarding the sales of tangible products, in this case the new kitchen. Within the Sales of Goods Act there are implied terms revolving around the title, description, fitness and quality of the good being sold. This means that if the goods sold to the consumer are not as how described within the contract then this is a clear breach of the contract and the consumer can take action against the business. If in the event that the consumers kitchen is fitted and the goods the company has sold are not as described or not fit for the purpose intended then the consumer has the right under the Sales of Good Act to take action. The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 covers the areas that the Sales of Goods doesn’t such as the contracts for work and material such as building work. There are some implied terms within the Supply of Goods and Services Act which are there for the hire of goods within a contract. This means that the bailor has the right to transfer the hired goods to the person hiring and that these goods or services are as described and fit for the purpose intended. There are also implied terms for the supply of goods and services regarding the work and materials. The implied terms are that the transferor has the legal right to transfer the property and that the goods will correspond to the description given within the contract
