One of the factors for British intervention in the states of Malaya is economy. The demand for tin has increased following the progress and development of the canning industry in Europe. Pile of tin substandard had been upsetting the British which is why the British has started the intervention to control the state of Perak, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan which is rich in raw materials like tin. Demand and high price of tin in Europe has increased British to intervention these states. Next, fear of other western powers intervention such as German, France, Spain, United State, Italy and Russia. Mid 19th century, there was the race of the western powers to find new colonies in East. Due and development of the Industrial Revolution in Europe leads to existance of competition between the western power for raw materials and new markets toward their industial products. Opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 which connected between Laut Mediterranean and Laut Merah has been shorten the distance and save time to travel between Europe and Asia. This has encouraged the intervention of western powers to East for the colonies. Problem of anarchy in Malay states also the factor for British intervention. In year 1860 and 1870, the states such as Perak, Selangor dan Negeri Sembilan were in unstable condition because occurrence of the problem of anarchy or chaos such as seizing the throne, Chinese triad fight, piracy problem and civil war. This has affected trade in the Straits Settlements, threatening the safety of life and property and hinder the production of tin. British companies in the Federated Malay States suffer losses because they have invested heavily in the capital a business cannot be carried out. Thus, the English merchants in the Federated Malay States had sent a letter of appeal to London, urging the British Government to extend its authority in the Malay States that
